Team Leader – Specialist in Agriculture Development, Senior Expert in Tanzania

VGM Partners is looking for an expert for the following EC Framework project in Tanzania:

PROJECT NAME: Identification 11th European Development Fund intervention for Tanzania in the Agriculture sector

Global objective: The global objective of the assignment is to support the EU Delegation to Tanzania (in coordination with EU Member States) and the Government of Tanzania through the facilitation of the National Authorising Officer in defining a coherent and strategic approach to guide interventions in the sector of sustainable agriculture under the 11th EDF National Indicative Programme.

POSITION: Team Leader – Specialist in Agriculture Development, Senior Expert

Qualifications and Skills

·         An advanced university degree (MA/MSc) in Agriculture, Agriculture Economics, Economic Development Studies or a related discipline.

·         Fluency in English, both written and oral

·         Kiswahili is an asset

·         Excellent communications skills and ability to interact with high level government officials, international donors, NGOs etc.

Professional experience

·         At least 10 years of professional experience in the analysis, design and/or delivery of economic, agriculture or rural development cooperation programmes;

·         Solid knowledge of EU policies and processes, in particular those related to development cooperation.

·         Solid knowledge of agriculture, food security and nutrition policies in Tanzania and/or East Africa

·         Knowledge of Agriculture Research and Training in Tanzania and/or Eastern Africa

·         Expertise on development issues in particular, agriculture, food security and nutrition in Sub-Saharan Africa or developing countries;

·         Good knowledge on sustainable agricultural production and market development, value chains, public private partnerships;

·         Expertise in supporting applied research, technology transfer, quality and standards improvements targeting small scale farmers;

·         Knowledge of other international donors, in particular of international/development financial institutions;

·         Professional experience gained in the Eastern Africa region in the related field

·         Knowledge in food safety (safe for consumption) would be an asset

·         Previous experience in Tanzania in the related sector would be an asset

·         Previous experience in similar assignments with EU or other donor ;

·         Expertise in monitoring and evaluation.
