Christian Aid Senior Advocacy and Policy Officer - East Africa

Food crisis, drought, land appropriation, insecurity and violence are some of the factors affecting humanitarian and development work by local organisations in East Africa and South Sudan. This role will lead our advocacy to push the international community and national actors to take appropriate action to address the causes and consequences of insecurity and humanitarian crises. It will also support local and national partners to influence decision-making that affects their lives.
You’ll be a persuasive communicator, capable of engaging all kinds of people in innovative ways and carrying them along on the strength of your strategic vision. Chances are you’ve already worked in a similar role with another NGO, ideally with a development agency currently working on the region. Either way you’ll have very strong knowledge of Sudan, South Sudan and East Africa. The post will require frequent travel to/within the region and to the UK.
More than half the world lives in poverty. We aim to put a stop to that. So we campaign against the inequalities that keep people poor and we work with local organisations to give people strength to find their own solutions to the problems they face, irrespective of their religion. If you’re as determined as we are to end poverty and injustice across the world, work with us to make change happen.
