National Bank of Commerce Corporate Credit Manager

Reporting to:Head of Credit Sanctioning

Location:Head Office

Purpose:

A credit professional acting as credit expert to the relationship team and the conduit to the Credit Risk function for sanctioning purposes.

Responsible for developing practical and appropriate credit solutions (i.e. lending structures) through understanding customers' needs.

Delivering high quality and consistent, credit applications, making recommendations.

Monitor and control nominated accounts within designated portfolios.

Significant contribution on internal and cross-departmental challenges/strategic issues.

Ensure appropriate implementation of delegated authorities from Head of Credit Sanctioning.

Work closely with Head of Credit Sanctioning to meet function targets and strongly support the bank's ambitious growth plans whilst maintaining high book quality.

Main Accountabilities

Assess a customer's business through the analysis of Business and Credit risks associated with the provision of the bank's products and services to the customer.

Develop high quality credit solutions with the view of obtaining fast credit approval from Credit teams

Be the joint contact for credit management purposes for accountants, solicitors and other professionals.

Preparation of credit applications for recommendations to the sanctioners.

Coaching and mentoring of other team members on preparation of credit applications

Work in partnership with RMs on new and existing credit applications,

providing guidance on credit appetite and consulting with Credit Team as appropriate.

Liaise directly with the sanctioning office for all credits that are outside local Risk Management or the Relationship Manager's personal discretion.

Attend customer meetings with the Relationship Manager if credit related issues are to be discussed need to be resolved.

Proactively contribute to embedding agreed change management initiatives in support of process and quality improvements, cost reductions

Support and contribute to specific industry focus as determined by the Corporate/Credit Teams.

Introduce and drive through change, challenging ineffective processes and policies where appropriate.

Other tasks delegated by Head of Credit Sanctioning and Head of Wholesale Credit.

Review and sign facility letters and co-ordinate execution of documentation and draw down of facilities.

Responsible for managing financial information produced by customers.

Responsible for managing the end to end process for risk reports, challenging Relationship Managers where control lapses or potential risk has been identified

Monitor and Control quality of portfolio using 'Condition of Sanction' triggers where possible. Discussing with Sanctioners deteriorating trends and triggers events if they give cause for concern, advising the Relationship

Manager simultaneously.

Provide technical input to the portfolio reporting and analysis.

Assist with the development of techniques and systems in accordance with the prevailing strategy

Qualifications and Experience

Proven experience in a Credit role at a junior management level gained within the Bank or blue-chip financial organization

Excellent understanding of credit and associated risks

Experienced user of CCRS or a similar system to analyze, monitor and report on credit applications.

Good interpersonal skills that have been proven in a Business or Credit environment at a management level.

The ACIB professional qualification or equivalent

Accreditation on use of CCRS would be an added advantage
