- Deadline : 11 Apr 2014
WaterAid transforms lives by improving access to safe water, hygiene and sanitation in the world’s poorest communities. By 2030 we want everyone, everywhere to have these basics and we need you to help us make it happen. If you bring expertise, passion and professionalism, we’ll give you a lot back. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the provision of sustainable and equitable safe water and sanitation, through service delivery and advocacy.
Programme Coordinator – Research & Documentation
This is a re-advertisement; all previous applicants are advised not to re-apply.
As an active member of the Integrated Water, Sanitation and Hygiene team, you will be part of the strategic planning, coordination, management and implementation of WaterAid Uganda’s advocacy and communications strategy.
Key responsibilities
- The successful candidate will contribute to the development and provision of analytical political, social and economic trends within the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector.
- You will undertake WASH-based research, and document and ensure learning from best practices, experiences and challenges by the development sector, including government departments.
- You will help build the capacity of WaterAid Uganda partner organisations, and lead on the coordination of all research and documentation work.
Senior Programme Coordinator – Policy & Campaigns
The successful candidate will champion policy-influencing advocacy, based on analysis, research and best practices, to contribute to lasting improvements in access to safe water and sanitation.
Key responsibilities
- You will conduct periodic policy analysis of the wider social, political and economic contexts to ensure that the country programme stays at the forefront of national development policy debates, relevant for the identification of critical evidence gaps in WASH service delivery.
- You will build relationships, partnerships and networks with the health and education sectors to raise the profile of sanitation and water nationally. This will ensure that our actions are informed by an in-depth knowledge of sector dynamics, emerging sector issues and national priorities.
Programme Coordinator – Communications
The successful candidate will gather case studies, photography and film to produce reports, newsletters and other communications materials promoting the work of WaterAid Uganda.
Key responsibilities
- You will proactively and creatively promote WaterAid Uganda’s work by raising the organisation’s visibility, improving our profile and inspiring change.
- You will be responsible for using social media to communicate with and engage existing and potential supporters. This will involve establishing a brand presence on social networks – Facebook, Twitter etc. – and blogs to continually widen our supporter base. You will also use Yammer to communicate our work internally.
Programme Coordinator – Small Towns
Working together with our partners, the successful candidate will lead in planning, strengthening and guiding the implementation of our work in small towns. You will ensure that blockages to access to WASH services by the poorest people in small towns are clearly identified with appropriate strategies put in place to address them.
Key responsibilities
- The successful candidate will develop and facilitate close working relationship with utilities and regulatory bodies in small towns.
- You will proactively support Local Government Authorities and partners to implement integrated water, sanitation and hygiene promotion campaigns that are relevant to small towns, in line with the Government's National Water and Sanitation policies alongside relevant WaterAid policies and guidelines.
