SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER ENGINEER ZOA

ZOA is an International Christian Non-Governmental Organisation for Humanitarian and Rehabilitation Assistance. Our mandate is to assist displaced people, host population and returnees, who are affected by warfare, conflict or natural disaster. The Uganda Programme has one of its programmes in Amudat district. The project activities concentrate on community development, agriculture / livelihoods, water for food production and sanitation. We operate in close cooperation with the community and local government.
We wish to recruit for the following positions:
SENIOR PROJECT OFFICER ENGINEER
Duty station : Amudat
Reports to : Manager Agriculture
Starting date : ASAP

The Project Officer will work in a food-for-work and voucher-for work project. The SPO Engineer will design and prepare the layout of the community assets like: community access roads, subsurface dams, valley dams, and other water conserva¬tion/water harvest measures in Amudat District.

Responsibilities:
• Gives technical advises, plan and organize the constructions of the community assets on water, soil conservation and community access roads.
• Provides technical guidance to the groups when working on the community assets
• Give technical guidance to the team members of agriculture livelihood program
• Implements activities as described in the project proposal based on ZOA's country and programme policy
• Ensure proper monitoring and evaluation of progress of planned activities for specific period of implementation and initiates involvement of local government to assure sustainability and ownership.
• Produces monthly reports to the Manager Agriculture.

Job requirement

Requirements:
• Diploma or degree in civil or water engineering.
• At least 3 years successful experience in implementation of projects with community assets like community access roads water and soil conservation structures using community labour based approach.
• Extensive technical knowledge on water engineering
• Experience in working with community using voucher-for-work or food-for-work approach
• Experience with Project Cycle Management
• Good command of Kiswahili and English (Pokot is advantage)
• Good computer knowledge and report writing skills
