Savings & Credit Officer UNS-SACCO

The UNS-SACCO is a Savings and Credit Cooperative Society for UN Staff in Uganda. It was established in October 2009 under the Cooperative Statute 1991 to provide affordable financial services to staff and has a growing membership. The UNS-SACCO cherishes and takes pride in its human resources and strives to maintain a well motivated and committed human resource. It therefore seeks to recruit competent persons for the position listed below:
Position: Savings & Credit Officer
Reports: General Manager
Duty Station: Kampala
Salary and Benefits: Attractive and commensurate with experience.
Function:
To provide technical support in the registration of new members, mobilization of, savings, management and recovery of loans.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the UNS-SACCO General Manager, the Credit and Savings Officer will perform the following duties:
1. Process the registration of new members in accordance with the UNS-SACCO procedures,
2. Maintain and update the Members database on a daily basis.
3. Process Members' Loan applications in accordance with the SACCO procedures.
4. Receive, Receipt and bank all SACCO revenue on a daily basis. (
5. Prepare Loan Recovery schedules for onward submission to the respective UN Agencies by the General Manager.
6. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual Loan Portfolio reports.
7. Update the Loan Performer system.
8. Responsible for the proper filing of all loan documents and maintenance of all loan files.
9. Update the UNS-SACCO web site whenever new information is made available.
10. Manage the Front Office and promote the UNS-SACCO image through demonstrating good customer care and human relations

Job requirement

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
The ideal candidate will have:
• A degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or its equivalent obtained from a reputable institution;
• At least three years' experience in Finance Management with proven ability to manage an office with complex transactions.
• Additional training or certification in Finance is an added advantage
• Significant and proven leadership skills at mid level management positions.
• Proven integrity and trustworthiness.
• Excellent and organisational development, interpersonal, communication and marketing skills.
• Supervisory skills
• Computer skills in Microsoft office applications and at least one accounting software(Preferably Quickbooks or Tally)
• Fluency in English language with good written and oral skills.
