Facilities and Services Manager
African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu Gold Mine seeks to employ an experienced Facilities & Services Manager
KEY RESULT AREAS- ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Ensure contractor (S) in place for the cost effective provision of none site accommodation services including:
• Providing the leadership necessary to ensure that employees and contractors adhere to safety and environmental standards that exceed worldwide industry standards and any applicable legislation.
A. Accommodation occupancy management reporting
B. Catering for residents, day – worker and special events
C. Housekeeping, laundry and office janitorial requirements
D. Garden and facilities maintenance
E. Management of recreational facilities
• To effectively manage the contractor (S) to ensure effective day to day service delivery and continuous improvement against key performance indicators.
• To ensure effective cost management by the contractor, including timely and transparent reporting of costs, variance analyses, audits and controls against pre established targets forecasts and budgets on a monthly basis.
• Provide expertise and guidance to ensure contractor implementation of appropriate international standard policies, quality standards and procedure especially those relating to the purchase, delivery and storage of food supplies, workers and client hygiene and safety, environmental management and HACCP where applicable.
• Provide expertise and guidance to ensure contractor implementation of emergency response plans and procedure as applicable to accommodate services.
• To ensure mechanisms in place for dealing with employees enquired suggestions and complaints with regards to accommodation services.
• To ensure effective training and development at all levels of contractors organization (S) to ensure operation to implement standards and ensure their future capacity to manage accommodation services without dedicated BGML support.
• To actively participate in the design, construction and relocation to new dry/ wet mess including the selection of catering equipment, future and interior/ exterior design and develop and implement plans for ongoing improvement and development of site HR facilities.
• Oversee and assist in the planning of functions and special events include for visiting dignitaries, the BGML social club and annual company events.
• Manage aviation and travel requirements including the insurance of effective systems for booking and ticketing of employee business and rotational travel, evaluate and make recommendations with regards to implementation of available electronic systems as applicable.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL
Educational Requirements:
• Degree/ Diploma in Catering Management, or equivalent
Experience Requirements:
• Minimum of 2 to 3 years professional work exp in the private industry with at least 5 years in catering with previous exp in the mining industry as an advantage.
• Management exp, including policy development and promoting acceptance and understanding of polices by line management and employees.
• Interpersonal skills, with competencies in consultation and negotiation with in/ external clients and stake holders
• Ability to manage resources efficiently and achieve organizational outcomes in a timely and orderly manner
• Competency in leadership and management of policies and practices
