- PURPOSE OF THE POST
Under the supervision of Head of Antenna (Dungu), responsible for the formulation, design, planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluation of Child Protection programme, Child Protection strategy, and leading the Child Protection Working Group within the cluster system, in Haut and Bas Uele.
- MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the delegated authority and under the given organizational set-up, the incumbent may be assigned the primarily, shared, or contributory accountabilities for all or part of the following areas of major duties and key end-results.
1. Programme/Project Management
Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective Child Protection programme and project design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation.
2. Project Efficiency and Effectiveness
Enhance project efficiency and effectiveness through implementation follow-on.
3. Work Plan and Project Documentation
Analyze collected data and information and prepare progress reports; draft changes in Social Protection for Vulnerable Children project work plans and assist in identification of required supplies and equipment as well as in the drafting of Country Programme Recommendation and other project documentation, assuring accuracy and consistency with established rules, regulations and plans of action.
4. Project Implementation Information and Data
Review partners’ program implementation and justification of resource utilisation.
5. Knowledge Sharing
Consistently provide guidance and tools for Child Protection programming and coordination, e.g. IASC guidelines, UNICEF guidelines, CPWG tools. Contribute actively to capacity building of child protection actors, including NGOs/ civil society and government agencies. Facilitate the monitoring and reporting of grave violations against children as per Security Council Resolutions 1612 and 1882.
6. Communication and Networking
Lead the Child Protection Working Group, in liaison with the Protection Cluster, and support the coordination of Sexual and Gender Based Violence Working Group. Channel contributions of child protection actors to the implementation and monitoring of the Humanitarian Action Plan. Ensure the effective communication and networking developed and maintained through partnership and collaboration.
- QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- University degree in the social sciences, law or child development
- Two years of relevant professional work experience.
- International work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO).
- Background/familiarity with child protection in emergency programming
- Fluency in English and a second UN language (IP).
