Job Title:	MANUFACTURING ACCOUNTANT
Reports To:	SUPPLY FINANCE MANAGER
Context/Scope:	Tanzania is the largest country in East Africa by geography and by population (approx 42m people, with a growth rate of 2.8%). It is a member of the East African Community whose headquarters is in Arusha in Tanzania. The largest population, however, is in Dar es Salaam, which is the commercial capital. Tanzania is well endowed agriculturally and has vast mineral resources in the western part of the country, where the largest urban centre is Mwanza. Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL) operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the 2nd largest beer company with a market share of 17%. It is an integrated demand/supply business with 3 operational breweries in Dar and Mwanza and Moshi. SBL’s flagship brands are Premium Serengeti lager and Serengeti Platinum, which accounts for 50% of SBL sales volumes. The other beer brands are Uhuru, Senator, Tusker, Tusker Lite, Kibo, Pilsner, Guinness and Kick. SBL’s 3 fully operational breweries in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi have a combined capacity of 1.5 m Hls.

Market Complexity:	SBL operates in a competitive environment and in a vast geography. The main player in the beer industry is Tanzania Breweries Ltd. (TBL), a subsidiary of SABMiller, who until recently were a third party manufacturer of EABL brands Tusker, Pilsner and Guinness. As a result of the cessation of the agreement between TBL and EABL, there is heightened competitive activity in that market. Inflation rates remain high in Tanzania (6.46% expected) and average income per capita is less than 1 USD per day. The GDP growth is estimated at 6.4% and is expected to grow to 7.1% as investment, trade and tourism pick up. There is growing consumer affluence and consumerism, giving rise to greater opportunities in our product categories.
Leadership Responsibilities:
Purpose of Role:	To provide a dedicated management accounting and performance measurement service to the operations and logistics team involved in the manufacturing of beer and spirits. The supply business comprise of the operations and logistics, and each area has key controls that are necessary to mitigate against financial loss while providing financial visibility on packaging,brewing processes for both beer and spirits. The role also doubles up as Inventory accountant for the business.
Top 3-5 Accountabilities	Coordinating the monthly and annual stock counts across all stock categories. Ensure that all Stock variances are fully explained. Ensure that all Raw Materials and components used in the month are issued to the process orders within the month. Ensure that the monthly stock variances are approved in line with SOA Ensure at all times stock accounts are fully reconciled to the GL and Physical Stocks on the monthly basis. Supervise the Inventory Accountant both for the beer and Emties processes. Ensure that adequent controls are maintained on the complaince issues. Monitor the status of Stock obsolescence to ensure adequate provision is maintained. Ensure there is always proper accounting Facilitate monthly cost centre review and Materials spend analysis.
Qualifications and Experience Required:	Qualified CPA(T)/ACCA/ACMA or B.COM. Sound people management skills, including the ability to motivate and challenge a team to deliver results. Knowledge of all aspects of a finance function, including financial accounting and statutory reporting requirements. Extensive knowledge of Excel Atleast 3 years experience in MFFG Knowledge on SAP will be added advantage.
