IPM Supervisor

One of our Corporate Clients in the HORTICULTURAL industry is looking for the Suitable Candidate to fit in the following Position.

IPM Supervisor

Position reports to the Manager, IPM and in his absence, to the Production Manager or ED to implement lawful directives and undertake such duties assigned from time to time and as provided in this JD.

Laterally interacts with the senior IPM Supervisors, Senior Ferti supervisor, senior Multiplication supervisor and production supervisors, all managers and fellow workers in the organisation and consultants of the organisation. IPM supervisors will report to this position.

Main Purpose Of The Job

• In coordination with the Manager, IPM, you will assist in carrying out efficient and effective phyto-sanitary activities of monitoring and control of pests & diseases in the farm to achieve the highest quality and quantity of flowers within sustainable cost.
• Ensure all IPM activities are carried out in accordance with the Environmental, Health & Safety standards followed by the company and strictly adhere to all IPM instructions issued by the IPM Manager, the Executive Director and our consultants.
• Compile a weekly scouting and pest infestation report and prepare a spray plan to be submitted to the IPM Manager.
• In charge of monitoring the pest and disease trend in the allocated GHses and the IPM supervisors reporting to him/her.
• Ensure accurate records are kept each time a chemical is applied by filling in the Chemical Use Report, in order to keep track of any chemical mixing and spraying, efficiency of its application, its timing, the name/ID of sprayers, their location (Greenhouse/ Sectors/ Chapel/ Beds), the Pest or Diseases treated and climate among other things. To be signed weekly by ED.
• Assist your manager in preparation and issuing on monthly basis the control forms for the following and have them signed monthly by the ED.
• Coordinate activities with the Production Supervisors allocated when and if needed (Spraying session/ manual watering/ Climate control).
• Where extra working hours are required, ensure this is requested and approved one day prior or by noon prior to the day of work by the Executive Director / HRM / Manager on duty and signed by the shopsteward.

Qualification and experience

• A university Degree in Horticultural Sciences or related disciplines;
• over 2 years experience in similar field;
• Effects of different active ingredients on pests and diseases.
• Knowledge of pests and diseases
• Product mixing knowledge
• Crop knowledge
• Knowledge of beneficial
• Employees supervised: 4-6 IPM Supervisors and 32-36 sprayers.
