One of our Corporate Clients in the HORTICULTURAL industry is looking for the Suitable Candidate to fit in the following Position.
IPM Assistant Manager
Reports directly to the Production Manager and in his absence to the Executive Director (ED) or the Managing Director (MD). Laterally interacts with all managers, Production supervisors, Post Harvest Manager, Ferti-irrigation Supervisor, Storekeepers, Sales Officers, Store keepers and HR Manager. The Head Scout and Spray Supervisors will report directly to him.
Main Purpose Of The Job
- Keep the crop free from all pests and diseases at all time and achieve production yields and quality within set budget.
- Develop the IPM approach in the company i.e. encourage and promote bio control.
- Maintains well trained labor force that implements all the Environmental, Health and Safety (HSE) requirements of the company, environmental standards and adhere to the policies and procedures on (HSE).
- Maintain efficient and effective use of crop protection equipment.
- Ensure efficient management of the phytoseilus production unit within the set budget.
- Will be responsible for staff administration that include:-
- Labour management
- Regulate working hours and OT management
- Leave management
- Coordinate departmental meeting;
- Performance Management in line with company staff appraisal policy.
- Employee relations with support for HR Manager
- Health and Safety (|HSE) regulations.
- Ensure sufficient and sustainable production of phytoseillus from the bio production unit.
- Prepare the weekly spraying plan latest by Thursday 12pm and get it approved by PM & ED or the acting person as well as consultants.
- Ensure that the proper information including the Date/ time/ product/ Pest or Disease target/ re-entry period, is written on the sign board of each GH before each spraying session. Ensure as well that the signboard “spraying in progress …” is systematically dispatched during a spraying session. Lock the greenhouse after spray for the duration of the re-entry period.
Qualification –
- Bsc in Horticulture and minimum 4 years experience in IPM in Rose production.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others, both orally and in writing, using both technical and non-technical language;
- Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written policies, procedures and instructions;
- Ability to prepare and present accurate and reliable reports containing findings and recommendations very consistently without being reminded.
- Ability to install and repair IMP tools and equipments;
- Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or oral instructions;
- Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines;
- Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology; Integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.
