BACKGROUND
The Nelson Mandela African Institution Science and Technology (NM-AIST) has been established under Tanzania’s Universities Act No. 7 of 2005, and as part of a network of African Institutions of Science and Technology (AISTs) in Sub-Saharan Africa. The NM-AIST envisions becoming a World-Class Institution of Higher Learning dedicated to the pursuit and promotion of excellence in science and engineering, and their applications for economic growth and sustainable development in Africa. The NM-AIST endeavors to deliver and promote high quality and internationally competitive teaching and learning, research and innovation, and public service in science, engineering and technology leveraging on entrepreneurship for enhanced value addition to people and natural resources, with a view to stimulating, catalyzing and promoting economic growth and sustainable development in Sub-Saharan Africa.
The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania has granted NM-AIST employment permits Ref. No. BC.10/87/012/J/88 and Ref. No.BC.10/87/012/J/84 to employ 18 staff.
Accountant - 1 POSITION
Minimum Entry Qualifications and Experience:
Holder of University Degree in Accountancy or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, has obtained a full CPA (T)/ACCA or its equivalent with relevant working experience of at least three years in a reputable organization must be conversant with Accounting Package – EPICOR
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparing monthly trial balances and bank reconciliation statements
• Maintaining records of debtors and creditors accurately and up-to-date
• Checking the correctness of claims and retirements ensuring that they are supported with appropriate evidence
• Correcting and approving internal audit reports and internal audit queries
• Remits net salaries to the employee’s respective banks
• Prepares monthly pay slips for each employee and keeping records and payroll register
• Performs any other duties as may from time to time be assigned to him/her by his/her supervisor
