About the Organization: 
Zidisha Microfinance is a direct peer-to-peer lending service to bridge the international wealth divide, allowing individuals in the US and internationally to lend to and communicate with borrowers in developing countries without local intermediaries. Its aim is to make its services available in developing countries worldwide, so that highly motivated individuals regardless of geographic location can access the affordable capital they need to grow their businesses and build better lives.

About the Job: 
Zidisha is seeking a Volunteer for the applicant volunteer team. S/he will ensure that admitted applicants/borrowers meet organization's standards for membership. This is a virtual position.

Tasks and Responsibilities: 

• Review new borrower applications for completeness. Work with applicants via email and SMS as necessary to help them add any missing information to their applications;
• Work with local verification partner organizations and local community officials via email and SMS to independently confirm key information in new borrower applications;
• Once applications are complete and key information is verified, work with organization's staff to make a decision of whether to admit an applicant as a borrower.

Qualifications: 

• High levels of personal integrity, honesty, and responsibility;
• Strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, discretion, and mature judgment;
• Skill in working with teams and in maintaining good communication at multiple levels;
• Proficiency in English required. Proficiency in French is a plus.
