OVERVIEW
COFORWA (Compagnons Fontainiers du Rwanda) is a Non-Governmental Rwandan Organization based in Muhanga and intervenes in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education since 1972. The organization has a long-dating experience in provision safe drinking water, rainwater harvesting, promoting improved sanitation and good hygiene practices both in communities and in public places such as schools, markets, refugee camps, etc.
In its capacity building project stipulated in the 2011-2013 Strategic Plan, COFORWA seeks to recruit a competent person for the aforementioned position.
The Program Coordinator will be in charge of coordinating all COFORWA WASH Projects, monitoring their progress and evaluating their impact. He/She will also make sure that reports from different projects are very well written to our partners’ satisfaction and sent to them on time as per the required deadlines. He/She will also coordinate activities pertaining to funds mobilization as well as those that include writing project proposals and organization of funds mobilization events.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Serve as a “B” substitute the Executive Director in his/her absence from duty
Ensure that agreements between COFORWA and partners are respected
Ensure that all projects are executed in very good quality of the work being done as per the agreements between COFORWA and partners.
Ensure that reports to partners are very well written (in terms of language and content), and that they are always submitted on time
Ensure that projects have proper staff, equipment and all necessary logistics to be effectively and efficiently executed
Organize and chair Program Coordination Meetings (PCM) with Project Managers on a regular basis
Supervise and evaluation the performance of Project Managers and give them any necessary support
Ensure a regular monitoring and evaluation of projects under execution
Update partners on a regular basis on the progress of the projects that they fund
Provide support in the recruitment of Project Staff
Visit Projects on a regular basis to monitor their progress and provide any necessary support to the project staff
Provide support in project data base conception and updating
Write new project proposals for funding
Making a follow-up on the project proposals submitted to make sure that they get funding
Organizing national, regional and international funds mobilization events
Provide support in the preparation of tender documents for WASH bids.
Provide any other required support in funds mobilization such as writing success stories for funds mobilization purposes
Ensure a proper marketing and communication strategy for funds mobilization
Provide program data and information to feed COFORWA’s website
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate will have :
Minimum level acceptable : Bachelor’s Degree in Hydraulic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environment and Water Resource Management, Project Management, Development Studies and any other related fields.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Driving License Category A or B (strongly required)
Demonstrated experience in project proposal writing
At least 3 years of experience of working with International NGOs
Experience in Project Planning and Management
Experience in implementation of WASH Projects
Experience in Project Monitoring and Evaluation
Experience in funds mobilization
Experience in Public and inter-organization relations
Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, customer service, and fixing problems under tight deadlines.
Experience in working with rural communities
