Transparency International (TI) is the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption. Through more than 90 chapters worldwide and an international secretariat in Berlin, Germany, TI raises awareness of the damaging effects of corruption and works with partners in government, business and civil society to develop and implement effective measures to tackle it.
The Global Outreach and Campaigns Department of TI-S is seeking a one-year maternity cover to develop and implement advocacy strategies together with colleagues in TI-S and the Movement and working with external partners. The focus will lie in particular on overseeing the G20 advocacy working group as well as supporting advocacy on financial integrity related issues. Another important component is implementing strong outreach to global institutions and other external stakeholders, including established partnerships as well as new audiences through coalition-building, representation and relationship-building. Furthermore, additional advocacy support for other TI-S projects and departments may be required, as necessary.

Responsibilities:
• Lead on assigned collective international advocacy, including developing strategies and implementing these together with colleagues in TI-S and the Movement and working with external partners.
• Coordinate Chapters’ participation in global advocacy work through establishment and facilitation of Chapter/IM working groups, and the sharing of information, best practice and learning on advocacy and campaigning skills across TI-S and the Movement, including through IT-supported communities, networks and communications.
• Deliver planned advocacy activities, resources and schedules, including coordination of project budgets and reports.
• Create advocacy materials (e.g. contributing to drafting and editing Chapter-generated reports, press releases, speeches, blogs, op-eds and other external communications) and commentaries, interventions, think pieces or policy working papers as necessary.
• Communicate TI’s position and messaging to external and internal audiences (e.g. by representing TI in governmental, inter-governmental, business and public fora as well as with the media and civil society organisations and groupings.
• Assess and initiate opportunities for advocacy actions globally, through stakeholder mapping and issue scanning, as well as through active engagement in Monitoring, and Evaluation and Learning cycles / feedback loops to continuously improve global outreach project delivery and performance.
• Develop funding applications, implement grants and create or compile reports to funders, as well as deliver any other tasks identified by the line manager as necessary to ensure that global outreach advocacy projects are implemented successfully.
Knowledge, experience and skills:
• Communications or social science related degree.
• Experience in advocacy, campaigning, activism and/or journalism.
• Excellent oral and written communication in English; working knowledge in French, Spanish or Arabic is an asset.
• Strong writing and communication skills.
• Strong organisational and project management skills and ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
• Strong diplomatic and intercultural skills and ability to integrate diverse views.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Considerable interest in the work of TI and the field of anti-corruption (required).
• Knowledge of key stakeholders in the fight against corruption at international level would be an advantage (e.g. international institutions and networks, civil society organisations).
