Church of Sweden’s Humanitarian Unit is looking for new members for its Psychosocial Staff Roster. Action by Churches Together (ACT) is a global alliance of churches and related agencies working to assist people caught in environmental disasters, as well as in emergencies caused by war and civil conflict worldwide. Presently ACT Alliance has 130 members in 140 countries who mobilise approximately $1.6 billion each year.

Job description
The Church of Sweden’s strategy for the psychosocial staff roster states that a community based psychosocial approach should form an integral part of the ACT-alliance’s humanitarian response work.
The Church of Sweden’s strategy for the psychosocial staff roster states that a community based psychosocial approach should form an integral part of the ACT-alliance’s humanitarian response work.
Church of Sweden offers the ACT Alliance members: capacity-strengthening in the community based psychosocial approach, and support in implementation of psychosocial programs, as a means to achieve the strategic objective above.
The scenarios to which the roster member may be deployed can vary from the onset of disasters, rehabilitation phase or non-crisis situation. Past deployments have included a focus on one or more of the following:
Conducting emergency CBPS assessments and stakeholder analyses
Inducting in basic CBPS through staff mentoring or leading workshops/training
Advising partners on ways to mainstream CBPS approach into programmes/organisation
Staff care
Co-ordinating with other emergency actors
Mentoring/monitoring of ongoing CBPS work
Conducting workshops on PMER cycle of CBPS programmes
Capacity building in emergency preparedness
Reporting and evaluation of CBPS programming
Selection criteria and qualifications
Relevant academic qualifications.
Previous psychosocial competence/orientation (relevant education and/or work experience) and a holistic approach.
Recent experience from field work/ work in international humanitarian organizations.
Demonstrated pedagogical skills/experience to facilitate workshops.
Experience from project work/ Planning-Monitoring-Evaluation-Reporting (PMER) cycle.
Available for minimum one assignment/year, ranging from 2 weeks to maximum 6 months.
Available for further training provided by CoS/ACT/Sida etc.
Fluency in two languages (English-essential and either French, Arabic, Spanish or other relevant language).
Social skills, cultural sensitivity.
Sharing of Church of Sweden’s common values.
