Plan has been working in Rwanda since 2007 and now has operations in the Eastern Province districts of Gatsibo and Bugesera. The support office is in Rwamagana while the counrty office is in Nyarutarama - Kigali.
Plan has a strict child protection policy and guidelines that all staff must follow at all times. All staff are expected to help ensure all Plan associates know, understand and follow these and take an active role in the protection of all children from abuse and exploitation.
To facilitate the implementation of its activities, Plan Rwanda wishes to recruit qualified and well experienced candidates to fill the following position:
Gender Specialist
Location: Country Office, Nyarutarama
Line Manager: Program Support Manager
Job summary:
Provide effective capacities and technical guidance in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of gender programs.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct Gender and development research and produce reports
- Implementation of the GAD strategy in PUs
- Build staff and community capacity for gender advocacy
- Develop and disseminate guidelines and tools for gender integration/mainstreaming
- In collaboration with the Education Programme Manager, enhance the implementation of International, regional and national initiatives or campaigns such as "Because I'm a Girl (BIG)" and Learn without Fear (LWF).
- Ensure that Plan Child Centred Community Development approach is embedded in Gender projects and activities;
Qualifications and experience:
- A University degree in social science, gender, Development studies, Law, or other related field
- At least 2 years experience and skills in networking with local and international NGOs and agencies, ministries and partners
- Ensure that Plan Child Centred Community Development approach is embedded in Gender projects and activities;
- Excellent knowledge of human right based approach to development
