Senior Long Term Planning Engineer Zambia-Lumwana

Lumwana Mining Company is wholly owned by Barrick Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines to be developed globally over the last decade.

The mine is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Open cut Senior Long Term Planning Engineer with a minimum of five years relevant experience to join our team. The appointee will report to the Mine Planning Superintendent and will be responsible for the following duties and activities:

•Promotion of site safety policies

•Budget physicals for LMC and related contractors

•LOM plans including costing and financial evaluations, modeling and documentation

•Running optimizations and option scenarios for new and existing ore bodies

•Pit, dump and other infrastructure designs appropriate to suit the needs of medium term team

•Monitor actual and design pits to achieve design criteria

•Ensure environmental policies and strategies are incorporated into mining plans

•Generate training plans for employees and monitor regularly
Skills & Abilities

The successful applicant must have the following qualifications/skills:
•Mining Engineering degree

•Five years pit mining experience

•Ability to mentor Zambian Engineers

•Experience with Vulcan or MineSight software

•Experience using scheduling software preferred

•Competent in Excel, Word and Access

•Good written and oral communication skills.
