JOB TITLE: Communication & Public Relations Specialist
Number of Vacancies: One (1)
Reports To: Secretary General
Responsible For: Communications and PR Assistant Duty Station: Kampala with frequent travel to program implementing FBOs
Job Purpose: To develop, implement, and identify strategies in communication and Public Relations for the promotion of a positive organizational image for IRCU
Key Result Areas:
1. Develop, maintain and implement communication & Public Relations systems within and outside IRCU in line with the organization policies and procedures
2. Oversee the maintenance and provide access to IRCU Resource Centre in line with the IRCU communication policies and procedures
3. Document and disseminate information useful to the organization in line with the IRCU’s Communication & Public Relations Strategy
4. Develop public information and educational materials on IRCU programmes and other development issues in line with the IRCU Strategy
5. Update and maintain the IRCU website in line with the IRCU communication requirements
6. Edit quarterly and annual reports for IRCU in line with communication guidelines/ policy
7. Provide public relations linkages for the organization in line with instructions from the Secretary General (SG).
8. Guide, coordinate and supervise documentation of experiences within IRCU in line with the strategy and IRCU communication guidelines/policy
9. Participate in implementation of various Organizational Development programmes in line with IRCU strategies
10. Respond to inquiries from the media and ensure positive/ active media coverage/publicity
11 .Create positive internal and community relations through effective and timely communications and publication dissemination.
12. Take lead in the preparation of marketing campaigns, public relations programs, special events, fund raising efforts and arrange press conferences whenever required.
Requirement:
Qualifications and Experience:
• A Master’s degree in communications and public relations or Information Science with experience in public relations.
• Post graduate qualifications in Graphic and web design.
• Accreditation to any communication & public relations bodies shall be considered key.
• Minimum of five years’ experience in Communication and public relations in a service delivery organization.
• Experience in social marketing with evidenced/recorded experience
