Project Engineer

Lead / Participate in all aspects of underground mine backfilling

• Gain advanced knowledge in paste and cemented rock fill systems through on site operational experience
• Assist with the design, construction & commissioning of new backfill systems
• Support existing backfill systems
• Provide guidance to ensure the effective and safe operation of backfill systems
• Participate in ongoing backfill research projects
• Participate in the preparation of and compliance with backfill standards
• Liaise with various industry suppliers
• Supervise consultants as required
• Ensure study reports are produced to acceptable Barrick standards
• Attend relevant industry seminars and conferences

Education and Experience Requirements

• Technical certificate (Mining or Metallurgy) or a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in the operation or supervision of mine backfill systems
• Strong written and verbal communication, computing, planning, and problem solving skills
• Strong organizational, presentation and interpersonal skills
• A valid driver’s license is required

The applicant should also be a self-starter who enjoys a fast paced and results oriented environment. As well, the applicant must have a proven ability to work with a great deal of confidential information / projects and maintain absolute discretion. Although this position reports into the Toronto office, the applicant may be based in a strategic location and must be willing and able to travel worldwide.
