About this Job: | MINISTRY OF AGRICULTURE. ANIMAL INDUSTRY & FISHERIES NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY SERVICES (NAADS) VACANCIES IN THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY SERVICES (NAADS) SECRETARIAT The National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) was established through an Act of Parliament (2001) of which three organs; the Secretariat, the Board and Farmers Forum were established. In order to ensure policy implementation and operationalisation of the strategic plans of the organisation, meet the national strategic objectives embedded in the National Development Plan (NDP) in the context of the Agricultural Sector Development Strategy and Investment Plan (DSIP), and achieve Prosperity For All (PFA), the National Agricultural Advisory Services Board now invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions at the NAADS Secretariat. 8. DATABASE TECHNICIAN Reporting: Planning, Monitoring and Budgeting officer through Data Base Management Officer. Job Purpose: The overall objective of the assignment is to support NAADS Secretariat in development and design of database strategies, generating data capture formats, analyze and summarize of data sets, which are useful in decision making as well as information to NAADS stakeholders, including facts and figure(s) and internal management reports. Functions: i. Assist in identifying MIS needs, support joint strategies and develop and maintain appropriate databases, database applications, database interface functions (data entry forms and reports) and products; ii. Assist in gathering and incorporating external datasets into the NAADS data repository; iii. Assist in maintaining and expanding the NAADS MIS data repository and related meta database(s); iv. Compile, sort, extract and verify accuracy of data collected from the districts and Secretariat reports; v. Support to other NAADS departments working with database applications, and provide general support to MIS skills and capacity development for users; vi. Assist in the development of back office operational systems and provide data sets for integration into the NAADS website; vii. Perform routine analysis and generate continuous management reports viii. Summarize and consolidate district quarterly reports to contribute to Secretariat quarterly report; ix. Carry out other tasks as directed by NAADS management. |
Requirement: | Qualifications and experience • University degree in any of the following, Statistics / Applied Economics with relevant training on database management and M&E systems. • Wide knowledge of developing data collection instruments as well as translating activities within the logical framework into data requirements. • Excellent theoretical and practical knowledge of developing database development, particularly in Ms Access and SQL, ideally also with VB. |
