ANIMAL INDUSTRY & FISHERIES NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY SERVICES (NAADS) VACANCIES IN THE NATIONAL AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY SERVICES (NAADS) SECRETARIAT The National Agricultural Advisory Services (NAADS) was established through an Act of Parliament (2001) of which three organs; the Secretariat, the Board and Farmers Forum were established. In order to ensure policy implementation and operationalisation of the strategic plans of the organisation, meet the national strategic objectives embedded in the National Development Plan (NDP) in the context of the Agricultural Sector Development Strategy and Investment Plan (DSIP), and achieve Prosperity For All (PFA), the National Agricultural Advisory Services Board now invites applications from suitably qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions at the NAADS Secretariat. 9. SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR (1) Reporting to: The Manager and Finance and Administration through Human Resource and Administration Officer Purpose: To manage and maintain the NAADS ICT system to enable users maximize productivity. Functions: i. Provide installation and maintenance of all computer equipment classified as standalone personal computers; workstations connected to LAN/UNIX/WIN NT /2003 Servers. ii. Develop, maintain and communicate ICT policies and procedures .throughout the NAADS Secretariat in accordance with the best practice and appropriate standards iii. Monitor the performance of the whole network and troubleshoot all areas including cable, and other media linked to the network configuration. iv. Monitor bandwidth use, analyze traffic patterns and volumes. v. Perform test and installation of Windows software on servers and all new computers vi. Participate during the maintenance and servicing of computers vii. Undertake storage and routine Backup of data; the exchange servers on a daily basis and monitor the incoming and outgoing mails at the mail server. viii. Ensure Internet security, monitor updates and install security tools on the computers connected to the servers. ix. Assist in orientations and training of staff on various computer applications and new technology.
Requirement:	Qualifications and experience • Bachelor’s degree in any of the following; Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized university. • Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology from a recognized University as an added advantage. • At least 3 years working experience in ICT in a busy environment. • Certificates such as CCNA, MCSE, IT-ESSENTIALS and others in a related field are added advantage. • Skill in communicating technical information logically and accurately in oral and written forms.
