The role will require regular travel to the Continental Africa Region (CAR) operations. The purpose of the role is to assist the VP: Mining Studies with direct output support in the development of mining studies to support the Region's growth strategy.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of concise study scoping documents supported by sound budgets, schedules of work and deliverables to manage the study execution
- Conduct mining studies as identified from managing concept through to feasibility studies, as requirements dictate inclusive of study conclusions and recommendations
- Provide technical specialist support and advice to Business Units / Mines Sites within CAR or other projects on ad hoc basis, inclusive of research and analysis of a wide range of mining related activities that will improve safety, production, mechanisation, productivity and cost of operating to support planning and business development and optimisation opportunities
- Co-ordinate timeously the interfaces required for independent peer review associated with the scoping of studies
- Consolidate multi-disciplinary reports into a concise, coherent document
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- A Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 to 15 years gold mining industry experience in both open pit and mechanised underground mines
- Gold mining experience will be advantageous
- Planning and production experience using software equivalent to Whittle, Datamine, Mine 2-4D and Enhanced Production Scheduler
- Sound financial and cost modelling skills
