In pursuit of its vision and mission, the University is currently searching for a suitably qualified person for the above position.
Reporting to the Vice Chancellor, the Human Resource Manager’s role will be:
To articulate and promote institutional Human Resource (HR) Policies, procedures and guidelines in order to best realize the University’s objectives and aspirations.
Specific duties:
• To design, develop, direct and supervise the human resources functions
• To formulate, improve and administer the University’s human resource policies
• To advise Management on the optimization of human resources.
• To review and implement performance appraisal system
• To enhance commitment from the JKUAT human resource through consultative approach.
• Develop and direct human resource planning and development programmes
• To provide expert advice and support to line managers in the implementation of HR Policies, systems and procedures.
• To initiate and co-ordinate job evaluation, job analysis and development processes.
• Design and continuously review the basic administrative structure of the university to ensure effective and efficient delivery of service.
• Implement decisions of the Board on matters regarding human resource.
• Account to the Vice Chancellor on the delivery of the human resource strategic objectives
• Perform any other duties as may be assigned by management
Minimum Qualifications:
• Must be a graduate from a recognized University with a Bachelors degree in Social Sciences or its equivalent. Also must be holders of a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and be a member of a professional body.
• Have minimum of five years experience in human resource management at a senior level in a university or an equivalent large organization.
• Have adequate knowledge of Labour Laws.
• Have effective communication, analytical and negotiations skills and ability to work as a team member.
