AMREF is an independent, non profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) whose mission is to “improve the health of disadvantaged people in Africa as a means for them to escape poverty and improve the quality of their lives”. AMREF has over 500 employees throughout Africa with its headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. AMREF has offices in Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, South Africa and Tanzania. AMREF has thirteen National offices in Europe and North America for liaisons and fundraising. AMREF Tanzania, one of the fast expanding country office programmes is largely supported by multilateral , Bilateral and national donors, implementing several programmes including HIV/AIDS/TB/STI, Family Health, Water and sanitation, Malaria, Training, clinical outreach and disaster management. AMREF Tanzania is therefore seeking to recruit highly qualified , experienced and motivated individuals to fill the following positions:-
Qualifications:
QUALIFICATIONS
• Master degree in public health, social sciences, community development or related field
• Well-versed with central and local government structures including health systems.
• Experience in project desiqn, planning and management skills including results analysis on project performance
• Experience in sexual reproductive health projects among young people
Three to five or more years experience implementing SRH, HIV and AIDS prevention and supportprogrammes
Duties And Responsibilities:-
• In liaison with Tanzania Senior Management Team, National Offices and programme and project managers, take lead in identification of opportunities for new programme development and write concept papers and proposals consistent with Government ofTanzania priorities through AMREFstrategic approaches
• Provide technical support and guidance in the implementation of MNCH projects
Ensure implementation of the project is in accordance with the contractual agreement between Donor andAMREF; adhering to operational regulations and the set standards for project management, financial procedures, procurement and human resource /1 management
• Oversee the management of overall programme budget including quality partnership with sub-grantees
Work closely with the development partners, ministry of health and social welfare and other relevant ministries and stakeholders in sharing and dialoguing along the identified project strategic components
• Generate pragmatic and evidence-based initiatives for bridging the existing gap between young people's sexual and reproductive health needs and their access to health care system
Guide, provide technical support and leadership in strengthening AMREF SR/MNCH portfolio in AMREFTanzania Participate actively in national efforts and forums addressing sexual reproductive health rights (SRHR) for young people and in MNCH forums .
Guide on timely compilation of projects' reports under MNCH portfolio and facilitating prompt submission to SMT, MoHSW, and to Donors.
Job Objectives
To provide strategic direction, oversight and leadership to Sexual Reproductive Health/Maternal and Child Health (SRH/MNCH) portfolio in AMREF Tanzania that is consistent with National standards, guidelines, policies, and AMREF Strategy and Business plan 2011-2014.5erve as the principal liaison at programme level for Sida-funded SRHR (Tuitetee) Project with Sida; Government ministries, departments and agencies in consultation with AMREF Senior Management
Serve as focal point for SRH/MNCH portfolio for TCO
Report To: Deputy Country Director
