Overview
Restless Development is the leading youth-led development agency. We have been working in Tanzania since 1993 and have established an impressive track record in delivering grassroots impact through youth led development programmes aligned to the Government of Tanzania’s poverty reduction plans and Millennium Development Goals. We have just completed one year of our ambitious new strategic plan 2011-2015 with huge results realised in our goal areas of sexual reproductive health and rights, livelihoods and employment, and civic participation. This position will focus on establishing social media presence in the Mabinti Tushike Hatamu! project.

Period and Location
Mid-July to mid-October. Full time based at Restless Development’s office in Dar Es Salaam

Allowance and Costs

Main Duties

·         Managing Facebook, Twitter, blog/website accounts, particularly within the Mabinti Tushike Hatamu project, ensuring quality and frequency of posts
·         Provide support to programmes team in using different media, e.g. radio, social media
·         Provide support on translation of tools and online materials from English into Kiswahili and vice versa
·         Identify and lead on opportunities for Restless Development to engage young people in our network in campaigns, on- and offline
·         Support the team with gathering and editing case studies and sharing them with Restless Development International
·         Provide support to the team before, during and after events, including ensuring visibility
·         Participate as requested in meetings and events related to our work
·         Uphold Restless Development’s policies and codes of conduct at all times and act as a role model in the course of your duties
Qualifications

Experiences and skills

Graduate degree (IT preferably)
Restless Development alumni encouraged to apply
Essential:
Excellent social media skills (Facebook, Twitter, blogging)
Excellent ICT skills, Word, Excel, Email, Powerpoint, Wordpress blogs and websites
Excellent writing and presentation skills
Fluent in English and Swahili, written and spoken
Passion for youth development and Restless Development’s mission
Desirable:
Event organization
Experience working as a long-term volunteer
Code of Conduct
You will be required to uphold Restless Development financial policies and procedures, staff code of conduct, and Values at all times during the course of your internship with the organization acting as a role model in the course of your duties.
Support from Restless Development
To support the successful completion of the Communications Assistant placement, Restless Development will:
·         Provide a summary of the key duties to be performed
·         Provide supervision and support in the performance of your duties
·         Provide input on your work
·         Provide regular line management via weekly meetings and monthly line management meetings
·         Provide training and guidance where needed
·         Provide access to a desk space at the Restless Development office in Dar Es Salaam
Property Rights
Restless Development will retain all property rights to new documents, reports and graphics produced under or pursuant to this Agreement.
