Position title: Junior project assistant

Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
1. Background
The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) likes to recruit a short-term expert to assist the project activities on mediation and also to assist the newly initiated project on post-conflict areas in partnership with the UNDP regional office in Addis Ababa.
2. Job Summary:
Under the general guidance of the Director of Peace and Secuirty and program coordinator of the APSA support program who is also in charge of coordinating the IGAD-UNDP post-conflict project, the short-term expert will assist the works of the joint project and also assit in facilitating the implementation of the activities planned under the Mediation Support Unit.
3. Description of the post
• Laise with the UNDP on the impliemtnaiton of the second round IGAD-UNDP planned activties, approved by the UNDP;
• Assit the IGAD focal person in cooridanitng the activties in the areas of capacity building trianings;
• Assit in the desgining of proposals for resource mobilization for post-conflict projects on the basis of the post-cofnlcit framework;
• Assist the cooridantion of the mediaiton related activties in cosnutlaiton with the MSU coordianotr;
• Carry out other activties when instructred by the Director of Peace and Secuirty
4. Minimum Requirements
Qualification : BA degree in any social science fields
5. Skills and Abilities:
• Computer skills (office package)
• Proven ability to work in an international environment,
• Efficient, systematic, and flexible in terms of working hours
• Good working knowledge in spoken and written English
• Experiance with IGAD works is an advantage
Tenure of Appointment: The appointment is for six months with possible extension subject to availability of fund and performance
Language requirements: Fluency in English is required
