Director of Maintenance, Mission Aviation Services, East Africa

Eldoret, Kenya - The Director of Maintenance, Mission Aviation Services, East Africa position is responsible for ensuring all aspects of safe maintenance of Samaritan’s Purse (SP) aircraft (DC3TP, B200 King Air and Cessna Grand Caravan) in support of its Christian relief and development work in East Africa.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee and participate in maintenance of all aircraft operated by SP Mission Aviation Services (MAS) East Africa. • Develop policies and procedures as they apply to aircraft maintenance. • Maintain all aircraft records. • Maintain current and complete inspection data. • Oversee the logistics manager and the spare parts inventory to maintain stock at appropriate levels. • Ship and track parts sent for repair or overhaul. • Schedule inspections based on AAIP’s or manufacturers inspection program for each airplane in cooperation with the Chief Pilot and Program Director (PD). • Work with PD to hire national staff as required. • Oversee “Line Service” team that wash and clean the aircraft. • Directly supervises 3-5 expatriate staff and about 5 national staff. • Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; conduct performance reviews; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems. • Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, its donors and volunteers. • Maintain a strong Christian witness to colleagues, vendors, charitable beneficiaries, and general public. • Assess, manage, and report critical physical, emotional, or spiritual concerns of supervised staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. • Fifth year college or university program certificate; or two to four years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. • One year of college-level Biblical studies is preferred. • 3+ years as a leader/manager with strong people and administration skills. • 5+ years of commercial/for profit aviation maintenance experience or military equivalent along with knowledge of applicable Federal Aviation Regulations. • 2 years of living and/or working overseas experience preferred. • FAA A&P and Inspector Authorization license. • Experience with one or more of the following: PT-6 engines, DC-3Ts, King Air B-200s, or C-208s • Budget management experience preferred. • Logistics experience preferred.
