North Mara Gold Mine HME Manager

We seek to appoint: HME Manager at our North Mara Gold Mining operation.

Reporting to the: Engineering Manager.

Roster: 6 weeks on 3 week off

Duration: Permanent

KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Conducting process analysis to determine equipment improvement opportunities.

·         Determining the lifetime of current mobile machinery and equipment and plans for replacement.

·         Assessing available machinery on the market and decides on the best possible equipment to meet needs. Apply for CAPEX for projects and manage projects.

·         Managing the installation of new equipment, ensuring its compliance with the specifications and SHEQ

·         Overseeing the handing-over of such equipment to production and maintenance personnel.

·         Instituting and ensuring that planned maintenance is affected on existing and new equipment.

·         Advising Manager Production on machine condition, operation procedures and when plant is unavailable for production.

·         Analyzing excessive and imperative downtime and high maintenance cost areas and revises maintenance strategy as necessary.

·         Leading investigation into possible solutions to the above in consultation with Managers Productions

·         Determining the cost and feasibility of repair versus replacement.

·         Responding to calls on 24 hour 7 days a week basis and deciding on action to be taken in case of breakdowns taking into account board stock versus repair cost versus running cost parameters.

·         Installing and maintaining a monitoring system for buyouts (material and labor) to verify work done by outside contractors.

·         Develop relationships with OEMs, maintenance service providers and technology suppliers for the benefit of the Company.

·         Ensuring that the Mine’s Safety, Health & Environment Management Systems are incorporated in all areas of HME Engineering to ensure compliance to Company best practices.

·         Ensuring adequate loss control systems are in place to protect company assets and personnel.

·         Updating emergency procedures as required and communicates the same to all employees.

·         Ensuring that site access control is maintained in accordance requirements.

·         Training of staff in compliance with our localization plans.

·         Training of apprentices.

·         Mentoring and identification of Stars of Business(SOB’s)

·         Setting and controlling all KPI’s.

PROFESSIONAL SKILLS

Education Requirements:

·         Relevant technical qualification.

·         10 years experience in open pit mining at supervisory level.

·         Computer skills are critical, proficiency in spreadsheets, email and database handling  

Other Skills or Competencies:

·         Be able to get and maintain a valid Tanzanian Drivers License.

·         Medically fit.

·         Good Oral and written communications skills (English).

·         Model behavior that is consistent with company Core Values.

·         High level of self motivation, good work ethics.

·         Continuous improvement is a way of life.
