GOAL:
- The goal of this fellowship is to provide a training-through- service opportunity for a data clerk. Through this experience, the Fellow will provide direct technical assistance to the National TB and Leprosy Control Program (NTLP) of the Ministry of Health-Uganda for strengthening the translation of data to action.
OBJECTIVES:
- Support the MOH to (1) improve the entry, analysis and use of data for strategic decision making, (2) support extension of this capability to regions, and (3) support the operations research agenda of the NTLP.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Over the period of performance, the incumbent will enter and manage data for the NTLP, under the mentorship and technical supervision of the Epidemiologist and Program Manager, NTLP. Additional technical assistance will be provided by the Africa Field Epidemiology Network (AFENET), U.S. CDC-Uganda/Atlanta, and other MOH technical partners. The incumbent will sit within the NTLP of the MOH, liaising with key partners, and supporting implementation of the following activities:
- Entry, analysis, interpretation and communication of existing, and incoming, surveillance and program performance data to the NTLP and key stakeholders
- Collect and enter data on trainings, monitoring and supervision, and other key processes.
- Enhance the NTLP data management capabilities, including
- Adaptation, setup and roll-out an electronic TB register
- Development of a data base/system for TB and Leprosy Control at the National and sub-national levels.
- Enhance use of the data from the program activities, health facilities, districts processing it, including;
a. Prepare monthly/quarterly reports
- Enhancing quality of TB and leprosy data collected from districts, surveillance, monitoring and evaluation .it regional referral hospitals and district health teams
- Support preparation of annual report on TB and leprosy control program
- Provide updates to the Program manager and team on the quality and timeliness of reports received
- Provide feedback to districts and zones on the quality of reports received and make recommendations to Improve data quality
- Liaise with NTRL data focal points

- Monthly and quarterly data entered and analyzed
- Monthly, quarterly and annual reports
