The Sustainable Water and Sanitation in Africa (SUWASA) invites
Expression of Interest (EoI) from professionally competent and
experienced firms/individuals to support and make further enhancements
of the organization’s website www.usaid-suwasa.org.
The key objective of the website is to raise the visibility of USAID’s
water program, to communicate lessons learned and accomplishments,
support scalability and replicability in countries across sub-Saharan
Africa. The website should provide information in a structured and quick
manner.
SUWASA is a six year regional program launched in 2009 by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to transform the delivery of water and sanitation services through the application of market based principles and innovative financing approaches for African water providers. SUWASA is implemented by Tetra Tech from the SUWASA Africa Regional Office in Nairobi, Kenya. The program provides technical assistance and capacity building, supplemented with limited financial support for infrastructure improvements and commodity procurements as needed to help assure initiative success.
Objective The main objective of this activity is to enhance the visibility and usability of SUWASA’s website and to provide support to completing the French sub site.
Scope of Work
French sub-site • Populate the French sub-site, test and take live. Ensure the structure and images are appropriately set up.
Design • Optimize the website for mobile users. While the website displays well on tablets such as ipads and tabs, it doesn’t display well on smaller screens. • Rewrite URLs to remove unnecessary extensions to make the website more readable and improve its search-ability. • Resolve typeface issues e.g. with headings on press releases and success stories at the CSS scripting level. • Upgrade the banners with eye catching and vibrant designs Back up, security and documentation • Set up an automated database backup system to help in case of unprecedented downtime and to ensure security of data. • Install additional security modules so as to secure the administrator login process. • Document the site in simple language.
News and social media • Incorporate a news updates column on home page just below the introductory text that occupies a large portion of home page. • Introduce content sharing through face book and twitter on the website to provide an opportunity for users to share stories from the website onto their specific social media accounts. • Introduce social media tools- twitter @usaid_suwasa and design a face book account. • Brand the SUWASA video account, correct module deficiencies and improve account security. • Create an automated mode of editing and sending the newsletter to all registered persons.
Website search- ability • Carry out advanced search engine optimization to improve search-ability of the website. Analyze and make proposals for key words consistency in articles. The keywords should be consistent across the site. • The websites domains (usaid-suwasa.org and www.usaid-suwasa.org) register to Google as two website url's. Redirect to one URL.
Web support Provide continuous web support services for a period of one year, including; • producing periodical analytics reports • customizing images/graphics for web use and other uses • uploading videos, photo gallery, managing social media accounts on trial basis • designing the publisher version of the e-newsletter and preparing images • Any other web related support functions.

How to apply:
Interested firms/individuals are required to submit an Expression of
Interest document by January 8, 2013. The EoI should not exceed three
(3) pages. It should outline the firm’s skills and experience in
creating and managing outstand¬ing websites.SUWASA will estab¬lish a short list of three (3) finalists from the submissions. These three finalists will be contacted by January 15, 2013 and invited to participate in the next stage of the selection process.
