DOT is launching a branch office, DOT
Tanzania, to implement the Youth Lead Enterprise Development (Y-LED) Project in
Tanzania and deliver DOT’s Economic programs the ReachUP! and StartUp!. The
Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) awarded DOT funding to launch
its programs in Tanzania.
To support it’s launch, DOT Tanzania
is seeking to hire an Intern Support Manager.
Position Description:
As an Intern Support Manager you will
have the exciting opportunity to guide and develop young adults in an
innovative, participative, and community-oriented learning and internship
experience. This role involves training, coaching, mentoring and managing young
interns engaged in a one-year internship with the DOT Tanzania program. These
interns will be working with community members as trainers/facilitators,
technology enablers and project management supporters. You will work on the DOT
Tanzania country team and take your direction from the Country Program Manager.
Your key responsibilities and
accountabilities will include:
Managing and coaching the interns from
recruitment, through training, into the community and finally when intern exits
the program
Ensure that interns develop and apply
the skills they need to drive successful implementation of the DOT program in
their community. This includes coaching 15 interns on ongoing development of
key skills, knowledge, and attributes as well as addressing emergent learning
needs
Ensures
that interns have their stipends and the resources they need to be successful
Mentor and coach interns to resolve
issues and challenges as they arise during their internship
Ensures that individual interns are
recognized for outstanding efforts & delivers intern performance
assessments and develops individual improvement plans.
Deliver
online and classroom training with a co-facilitator
Ensures that interns are consistently
fulfilling their roles, completing program delivery tasks and achieving
milestones
Establish
operational relationships with community partners
Use technology to enhance the learning
process – in both formal and informal learning settings.
Forwards formal and informal program
feedback to country team and DOT Global team Ensures that the interns are using
this experience to create job opportunities for themselves Undertake other
duties assigned by the Country Program Manager;
Position Qualification & Skills
Requirements:
Ideally,
5 years experience working with young adults in a training or management
capacity
Skilled in facilitating high quality,
participative learning experiences in leadership and interpersonal communication
Excellent project management skills.
Very attentive to detail and highly organized. Excellent coaching and mentoring
skills
Strong technology background with
internet-savvy; (experience facilitating on-line forums an asset)
Proactive, capable of working
independently; able to communicate and collaborate effectively with others;
creative, flexible, and eager to learn and adopt new approaches to teaching and
learning.
Familiarity
with community development an asset Commitment to youth and the development of
them as leaders
BA or College diploma in psychology/
development/ education/ business or a related field Fluency in English and
Kiswahili. Excellent demonstrated writing skills
High level of proficiency in office
desktop applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) as well as internet research
and email.
Willingness
to participate in field activities and travel to remote areas within Tanzania.
