As the Volunteer Front End Web Developer for DevEd, you'll help us to build and implement an inspiring and richer web experience on our websites to help us implement our mission of empowering communities through relevant education. You will be responsible for updating the DevEd website, including creating a new website specifically for fundraising. You will work closely with the Social Media team, the Communications team and Graphic Designer to create beautiful web-apps, which match the website's identity. You will be part of a growing and enthusiastic team dedicated to improving the lives and education of children in Uganda and elsewhere.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to apply their experience and skills to an innovative, start-up NGO. Candidates should have experience in developing front end web apps. Work experience in international NGOs, charities or developing countries a strong advantage. An ability to communicate fluently in English is required.

Plus you have lots of experience in developing front end web apps with PHP and Java, of course CSS, JavaScript and HTML and JavaScript library such as jQuery, Prototype, Dojo etc.

commitment: We're looking for a volunteer to start soon and stay on with us for at least one year, with the potential to renew. Ideally you will be in a regular routine (ie not in-between jobs) whereby you know that you can commit to this project long-term. We'll need you for 10-15 hours a week on a consistent basis. Please only apply if you are located in the Geneva area and can make this full commitment for a year. You would work from home with regular meetings with the team in Geneva.
compensation: The post will be part-time and unpaid. We would not be able to provide any help with obtaining a visa for Switzerland.
