Chemonics seeks long-term specialists for an anticipated USAID-funded project to improve the reading abilities of early grade students in Malawi. The project will assist the Malawian government to improve the quality of reading instruction for students in Standards 1-3, institutionalize the provision of teaching and learning material on reading, increase parental and community engagement to support student reading, and improve the policy environment for support to early grade reading. We are seeking expressions of interests for the following positions:
- Advanced degree in education, international development, or other relevant field required
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experiences including teaching of reading, teacher training, learner assessments
- Experience in sub-Saharan Africa
- Minimum seven years of experience managing complex and large programs
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
Literacy Specialist (based in Zomba)
- Advanced degree in education, international development, or psychometrics required
- Minimum five years of experience in developing readers through team approaches
- Minimum five years of experience in developing modules for continuous teacher professional development in reading
- Minimum five years of experience in developing assessment instruments in learner reading at the national level
- Minimum 10 years of field experience in education in sub-Saharan Africa
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
Monitoring and Evaluation and Learning Specialist (based in Lilongwe)
- Advanced degree in economics, statistics, or other closely related field required
- Minimum five years experience with quantitative and qualitative statistical processing and analysis packages
- Proven track record of producing monitoring and evaluation reports of high quality
- Experience in presentation of results to a variety of stakeholders
- Experience managing learner achievement studies
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
Community Mobilization Specialist (based in Ntcheu)
- Advanced degree in communication, social work, or other related field required
- Minimum seven years of experience in social mobilization and social marketing campaigns
- Minimum 10 years of experience in communications and outreach
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
Supply Chain Manager (based in Lilongwe)
- Advanced degree in supply chain management required
- Minimum 10 years of experience managing logistics for projects with similar scope
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
- Fluency in written and spoken English required
