Road transport sector has grown up tremendously over the recent years especially in the wake of regional economic integration which has seen a very sharp increase in the cargo inflow at the port of Dar es Salaam thus creating huge business opportunities for transport operators in Tanzania. TATOA has now been widely established as a single body that addresses all operational and legislative issues of cargo transporters in Tanzania as well as neighbouring countries in collaboration with various Government Authorities
In the face of an increased challenges to organise and coordinate association’s daily operations efficiently and effectively; TATOA needs to strengthen the Secretariat Team by filling required positions urgently. Further to that we have decided to establish the unit within the Association namely ‘’TATOA Licensing Bureau” in order to assist members in the process of obtaining Licenses from different Government Authorities and Agencies such as TRA, SUMATRA etc.
This unit will start in stages or phases and at the moment the Association has planned to start with the following:
a. Assisting the members to obtain a “License for the Conveyance of Customs Bonded Goods”, (COT)
b. Assisting the members to obtain a “Customs Bond for Transporters (CB-12)”,
LICENSING OFFICERS (LO)
The successful Candidate will be responsible for:
The Association is looking for a person who will report to the Licensing Executive and will perform the following duties:
1. Receiving Applications , registering them sequentially as they have been arrived, when Members approach TATOA offices with the intention to obtain new license or renew existing ones
2. Licensing officer issues numbered application form to members, along with clear instructions on how to fill in the forms.
3. To record Applications in TATOA’s database for tracking & reporting purposes
4. To assist and supervise the process of Members deposits on license fees either through the bank or other stated platforms.
5. Receiving Members returned duly filled in forms, along with proof of payment and documents as per checklist as will be given from time to time. He/She will be checking the Status updated on tracking tool
6. Licensing officers will also verify the correctness of the completed form and vets the attached documents for accuracy & authenticity.
7. Licensing officer uploads the application onto TRA system and tracks progress.
8. When license has been issued by TRA, licensing officer duly collects the licenses and issues while duly recorded onto the tracking system, as well as issuance book, and kept in a secure place with no public access.
9. Members should then be informed through email and telephone calls that their licenses are ready for collection.
10. Any other duties as may be assigned by higher authorities
Applying candidates shall posses the following qualifications and experience:
1. University or college degree or diploma in Social Science
2. Ability to take self initiative ,self motivated ,flexible and self supervised person
3. At least two years of working experience in transport/Clearing forwarding or related field
4. Effective enough to work under pressure and be able to meet deadlines
5. Capable of excellent communication skills and computer literate
6. Strong interpersonal skills and good customer care
7. Fluency in written and spoken English
8. Respectful ,honest and trustworthy
