Mikocheni Agricultural Research Institute (MARI) under the Ministry of Agriculture Food Security and Cooperatives is a "Collaborating Party" to the Natural Resources Institute (NRI) of the University of Greenwich, United Kingdom the main grantee of a four years project funded by Bill &Melinda Gates foundation (BMGF) entitled African cassava whitefly: outbreak causes and sustainable solutions', which is implemented in Malawi, Uganda and Tanzania and motivated Tanzanian to fill the following post:
POSITION, PROJECT ACCOUNTANT (1)
Key duties and responsibilities
To record, analyze and report a project financial status in consistent with donor's procedural and reporting requirements. .
Maintaining and updating of all project accounting records.
Preparation of monthly and annual financial reports and to ensure timely submission as may be required (six monthly, annually)
Preparation of payments and receipt voucher
Attending to Project Officers' queries regarding financial report/audits/budgets
Calculating and allocating administration fees charged to project.
Checking/verifying Requests for Payments and Purchase
Orders, to ascertain whether sufficient Project funding are available and that requests are charged to correct budget lines;
Preparing 'ad hoc' management and financial information and reports, as and when required internally
by Management Officers;
On a regular basis, ensure that project reports are reviewed and checked for data quality. Work directly and promptly with Project Officer to correct any inaccuracies.
Maintain project cash balances
Prepare ad hoc reports as needed by the Project Officer or Officer In charge.
Process and review invoices and travel and expense reports related to the project
Any other task as may be assigned by Officer In charge or your supervisor
ANALYTIC DATA MANAGER (I POST)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Analytic Data Manager will work with management and scientists in the project countries to develop strategies for managing the use of project data. He/she will be responsible to assist project staff and postgraduates students learn how to use data collection tools and software such as bioinformatics software, statistical software.
GIS. data, analysis and interpretation. He/she will work with the project coordinating office to determine the best possible method of organizing data generated by the project, providing data analytic support for better decision-making and analyses and organize the data in a SharePoint tool already developed by the project.

RESEARCH COMMUNlCATlON SPECIALIST (1 POST)
The Communication Specialist will be responsible for identifying project countries. The position shall coordinate with Project Management at MARI and Country Team Leaders within the project countries and develop appropriate communication materials. Specifically the successful candidate will:
Lead communication and knowledge management for the project.
Develop, coordinate, and implement a detailed communication strategy for the regional project.
Support the collection, evaluation and. capitalization of research findings through specific documentation (case studies, best practices, lessons learnt, factsheets, articles for the project website).
Document and communicate news, updates and stories from the project partner countries for wider dissemination.
Develop and package project information and knowledge outputs for wide access and application in various forms: print, digital, video or audio.
Support and facilitate collaboration and communication within and across the project partners. This includes support for online tools, face to face meetings, workshops and facilitation, as needed.
Develop and maintain good working relationships with the media including national, regional. and international arrange press briefings. and interviews; provide talking points and other materials as needed for project management and respond to media inquiries quickly and effectively.
Assist with organization and facilitation of country and Regional learning events bringing together project partners.
Support networking and engagement activities with other actors in the target countries.
Support the innovative use of information, communication and knowledge-based interventions and approaches across the projects, making use of for example, participatory communication approaches. emerging lCTs, and working with partners in these areas in cassava virus diagnostics and disease management.
Plan and implement information campaigns organized to promote the project's generated findings and knowledge as needed.
Contribute to the dissemination of knowledge and experiences of the project through participation in related events and exchange meetings.
Contribute to donor reporting, evaluation and planning processes.
Evaluate annually the impact of the project communication activities. '
Perform any other communication activities as may be assigned by the Project Coordinator. .
