Camp Host/Hostess
Work station:
Siwandu Camp (Selous Game Reserve) – Private Camp
Hosting duties
·
Alongside
the Main Camp Managers, take accountability for all actions in Private Camp /
North Camp
·
Meet
guests before and after al activities
·
Host
guests during tea time, pre dinner drinks around camp fire
·
Organise
their activities every evening
·
Ensure
guests have the best possible stay at Siwandu, look after all their questions
and queries and deal with all issues in a polite, helpful and responsive manner
·
Prepare
welcome notes; check in paperwork and indemnity forms for guests arriving as
well as give orientation briefing
·
Make
sure staff are fully aware of type of room to prepare any special requests or
dietary requirements etc which has been received beforehand.
·
Keep
the Day Sheet updated on a daily basis
·
Supply
complete guest detail to Jongomero or Ras Kutani by e-mail if guests will visit
these camps after departing from Siwandu.
·
Ensure
that all food, drinks are kept at a high standard
·
Check
setups for breakfast, lunch, pre-dinner drinks around fire and dinner as well
as private dinners
·
Make
sure that the main area is always tidy and styled correctly.
·
Check
smooth running of service from the kitchen and waiters. Work closely with butlers and HOD’s to
maintain a high service standard.
·
Assist
in any other departments as and when required
·
Familiarize
yourself with standards expected from each department and make sure that the
standards are exceeded.
·
Report
and follow up any maintenance work that needs doing in rooms, restaurant and
bar area, kitchen etc.
·
Double
check that kitchen and bars are running sufficiently – enough stocks, check
wastage, invoicing to guests etc.
·
Take
responsibility for staff, constantly training staff to the standard needed from
them, correct mistakes and discipline staff if the expected levels are not met.
·
Keep
track of sign in & out of staff, collecting information, filing and
electronic data capturing as needed.
Make sure there is enough sign in& out sheets daily.
Professional and
Interpersonal skills
- Tertiary
education
- Fluent in
English, Kiswahili and any other international language
- Strong experience
in hotel/tourism industry of not less than 5 years, specifically front of
house and a strong understanding of tourist needs and requests
- Ability to
work with people from different cultural background
- Good organizational
and administrative skills
- Open, honest, loyal
and dedicated
- Creative, outgoing, a quick learner and a
good team player
