Job Description:
This is a Temporary 15 month Opportunity
The Sustainable Market Led Agriculture in Tanzania (SMART) Project seeks to improve the economic and food security well-being of small holder farmers through a value chain approach in four districts in Tanzania. The project will promote participation of small holder farmers to engage better in agricultural value chains and reduce their vulnerability.
The Program Manager for SMART will lead the planning of project activities and timelines and set high quality performance targets ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines. This role will require the coordination of multiple partnerships with short timelines for delivery of high impact results. The Project Manager must build strong partnerships and work in close cooperation with World Vision Tanzania and the Field Program Manager for effective coordination of field activities.
The Project Manager will manage the grant in accordance with the project design documents to meet the funder’s requirements to achieve the best development outcomes possible for project beneficiaries. They will develop workplans and ensure implementation follows the agreed workplan, prepare regular reports for the funder in accordance with the reporting schedule, track project progress against objectives and intended results, and ensure the integration of cross-cutting themes into project implementation.
The Project Manager will monitor actual financial expenditure against budget and ensure proper management and utilization of finances, work with the finance team to prepare financial reports, and ensure implementation is in compliance with the contract and funder regulations. Risks to program management will be identified and mitigated. The Project Manager will ensure there is effective and regular communication with the funder on project progress. Where appropriate, they will utilize their technical knowledge and skills to strengthen grant implementation and support achievement of outcomes.
Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in agriculture, international development or a related field, with a preference for post-graduate qualifications.
• Minimum of 5 years project management experience applied to institutional donor funded projects.
• Experience with Results Based Management or similar results based management tools.
• Demonstrated experience managing remote teams to implement development projects.
• Demonstrated experience in coordinating complex partner relationships to implement development projects.
• Excellent analytic, organizational and computer skills; MS Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint.
• Ability to travel internationally 2-3 times per year.
