IntraHealth International is seeking a Orphan and Vulnerable Children Specialist to be based in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
The Orphan and Vulnerable Children (OVC) Specialist will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the project’s activities relating to orphan and vulnerable children and their caregivers. S/he will work with the Government of Tanzania, NGOs, CBO, and FBOs, and the private sector covering the implementation, and management of OVC programs across the country.S/he will work with other staff members to prepare work plans and introduce innovative approaches in responding to the needs of OVCs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Provides technical assistance and technical leadership on child protection.
• Designs, prepares, implements, monitors, and evaluates child protection program within broader scope of national guidelines, including law reform and strengthening the justice system for children.
• Develop training programs responsive to OVC needs, including build local capacity in project implementation and strategic planning for in facility and community-health services.
• Provide technical expertise in instructional systems design to develop and implement provider performance strategies/approaches to improve OVC related service delivery.
• Leads learning agenda, including research, design, and facilitation of workshops to ensures high quality results through effective teamwork and routine program reviews.
• Cultivates relationships with local authorities at the district and regional levels to create a favorable policy environment for OVC programming and management.
• Coordinate the develop and implement plans with individuals experiencing severe problems in social functioning such as physical abuse cases, mental illness, and sexual abuse.
• Participates in meetings with ministries, national and international NGOs and other agencies responsible for the programme component, to coordinate and follow up on implementation of recommendations and agreements for better collaboration and partnership.
• Ensures the accurate and timely input of programme information in the computerized programme system, and issues status reports for monitoring and evaluation purposes.

Desired Skills & Experience
Master’s degree in social Work psychology, sociology, human services, criminal justice, education (including early childhood), nursing or cultural anthropology, or related advanced degree with a focus on development, preferably with OVC services delivery, systems improvement, and child protection. Relevant program experience working in an NGO environment, especially with USG funded projects.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with diverse people, clients, government official and consultants.
• Demonstrated competence to assess priorities, manage a variety of activities in a time-sensitive environment, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to work as an effective team member in a complex and fast-paced environment.
• Good reporting and writing skills
• Strong verbal and written English and Kiswahili language skills.
• Good computer skills in Word, Excel, Power Point.
