Job Description
Note: This position reports to PATH and is seconded to the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Government of Tanzania and will be Central Tuberculosis Referral Laboratory (CTRL) offices in Dar es Salaam Regional with the mix of other ministry and National Tuberculosis and Leprosy Program (NTLP)'s staff.

PATH is hiring a Data Entry Clerk to be based at the Central TB Reference Laboratory in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Data Entry Clerk will work with the Data Manager and Head of CTRL to ensure proper data entry and filing systems for CTRL laboratory TB data collected country wide. Specific responsibilities include:
- Prepare folders of all incoming laboratory request forms.
- Sort and organize all forms before data is entered into the data base.
- Ensure all TB laboratory request forms are entered into the database according to the requirement.
- Work closely with Data Manager to correct data coding problems.
- Backup the database daily.
- Communicate laboratory results through email to the DTLC’s/DTHC, ZTHC / RTLC’s.
- Operate, respond and record toll free telephone conversations.
- In collaboration with Data Manager, prepare weekly updated laboratory workload summary and submit to Head of CTRL with a copy to Laboratory Technical Officer.
- Copy of the database to external hard drive.
- Ensure that computer data security procedures are observed.
Required Skills
- Advanced working knowledge of Excel and strong database management skills.
- Familiarity with a wide range of computer programs.
- Experience with donor funded programs particularly USAID.
- Detail oriented, organized and able to meet tight deadlines.
- Self-motivated, results driven, prefers to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
- Proven prioritization and time management skills.
- Effective written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Swahili.
Required Experience
High School education/certificate/diploma in computer application plus any database management training experience. Experience with a wide range of computer programs. One year experience in data entry a plus.
