APOPO is an award-winning social enterprise that researches, develops and implements detection rats technology for humanitarian purposes such as Mine Action and Tuberculosis detection. APOPO is a registered Belgian NGO, with headquarters in Tanzania and operations in Mozambique, Thailand, Angola and Cambodia.
Job and personal requisites:
We are looking for an energetic and creative communications professional to work in our global communications department at our headquarters in Tanzania.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Communications Manager to deliver an exciting set of multidimensional communications for APOPO and our public support campaigns, including the well-known HeroRAT Adoption campaign.
The job profile includes a variety of projects including but not limited to: donor relations, website development and maintenance, social media, newsletters, fundraising campaigns, marketing and communication resources, media relations, and program administration.
The ideal candidate will commit to this position for one year. The position is a paid voluntary position with several benefits for a period of six months and will be converted to an employment position afterwards, basis good performance.
Skills and experience:
University degree in Communications, Marketing, or equivalent
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Native-level English fluency
Donor relations and fundraising experience
Writing, editing and proof-reading skills
Media relations experience
Website maintenance knowledge
Administration and database management skills
Cross-cultural communication skills and cultural sensitivity
Extraordinary patience, flexibility, independence, and a sense of humor

Benefits:
The Communications Coordinator is entitled to accommodation, transport (car), round-trip flight tickets (economy class), and an ample monthly stipend.
