1.Implement controls within the business unit to meet regulatory and internal requirements.
2.Ensure proper functioning of day-to-day controls, periodic CDD reviews activities, eCDD customer data entry on excel file and timely resolution of AML and other risk issues.
3.Provide business management with professional advice on all aspects relating to breaches and irregularities that border on money laundering
Key Roles & Responsibilities
• Review the Files to check the customer compliance status.
• Provide data-enter customer details in an Excel file.
• Perform unwrap, identify deficiencies in customer documentation.
• Use periodic Review Checklist which includes steps to rectify issues identified during the review
• Forward the completed Periodic Review Checklist to RMs/Branches for rectifying deficiencies.
• The Periodic Review Checklist will be forwarded to RMs/Branches even if there are no deficiencies to complete Periodic Review and Sanctions Checklist.
• Upon completion of Periodic Review and rectification of deficiencies, where applicable, RMs/Branches will forward the documents back to the SME eCDD Project Reviewer.
• Complete the remaining data-entry in Excel file.
• Take photocopies of all the supporting documents and prepare 1 docket per customer. This docket will be forwarded to the Hub for data entry into eCDD.
• Perform CDD reviews of customer accounts in accordance with the laid down procedures
• Guide RMs/Branches on any static data amendment or other instructions.
• Secure the AML-related documentation in appropriate storage facility in accordance to their retention periods.
• Track all escalations to the RM/branches on a daily basis including ensuring that their resolution actions are followed through within agreed timelines and that breaches are reported for appropriate actions
• Bring to the attention of the Business BMLPO/ GM-SME, SME eCDD Country champion, Accounts services (hub) any review findings that may require escalation to other parties for appropriate action
• File STR/SAR reports with BMLPO/CMLPO per the relevant CDD guidelines and Group AML policy
• Review exceptions of controls identified through KCSA, assurance review and internal audit. Take steps to rectify control lapses and weaknesses
• Ensure Maintenance of a healthy business environment through strict Compliance with Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance Risk Management standards, as defined by the Group and Local regulatory Authorities
Qualifications & Skills
• University degree or equivalent qualification and minimum 2 years experience in Banking Operations gained through working in the core areas of banking.
• Strong ability to communicate; write, present and clearly defend findings and recommendations of investigations;
• strong organizational and analytical ability (Including proficiency in MS Office suite applications);
• possession of problem solving skills and attention to detail and ability to work independently and manage challenges;
• integrity and strong interpersonal skills;
• Thorough understanding of the Group Operational and Compliance Risk Policies especially AML policies and local regulatory requirements.
• A strong team player capable of interacting with senior business/risk management
• Proficiency in using key banking systems and a good understanding of process mapping and process review
• A good performance track record
