SALARY: Base Annual Salary: USD $13,287 (Salary paid in Birr at official exchange rate, plus benefits)
Summary of Basic Functions
Peace Corps Ethiopia seeks an experienced professional trainer to manage training of approximately 120 American Volunteers per year working in the areas of HIV/AIDS, Community Health, Conservation, Environmental Education, Food Security and English language Education. The Training Manager (TM) conducts needs assessments, designs and leads a ten-week pre-service training event and coordinates multiple training workshops throughout the year. The TM manages a small full-time staff and a part-time staff of approximately 25 trainers; he or she conducts training of trainers workshops, and delivers staff development training sessions. The TM also prepares budgets and manages finances.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Applicants must demonstrate five to ten years of progressive training and management experience;
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (Master’s Degree preferred);
• Level IV (fluent) in reading, writing and speaking in both English and Amharic;
• Demonstrated experience working with training design and evaluation;
• Demonstrated training experience with adult learners, preferably with American and/or volunteer populations;
• Demonstrated success designing interactive session plans, workshops and conferences.

• Facilitation skills for adult learners using experiential education methodologies;
• Ability to prioritize and structure daily, monthly and yearly tasks, organize workflow and manage time;
• Able to manage and supervise complex logistical issues for host family arrangements, transportation and coordinating guest speakers and contractors;
• Strong mentoring and coaching skills, and ability to give constructive feedback to adult learners;
• Strong communication skills, including writing of reports, evaluations and public speaking;
• Strong intercultural working experience, preferably with an American or European organization;
• Experience forming and managing teams and inspiring a team approach towards collective goals;
• Willingness to travel to and spend nights in training communities (towns & villages) for extended periods of time;
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft software skills (Outlook, Excel, MS Word, etc).
• Ability to prioritize and structure daily, monthly and yearly tasks, organize workflow and manage time;

• Experience with one or more of the Peace Corps/Ethiopia programming areas is preferred: English teaching, teacher training, HIV/AIDS prevention, health promotion, environmental conservation and agriculture.
• Fluency in at least one other national language of Ethiopia in addition to Amharic;
• Extremely flexible and good natured, especially within an often stressful working environment;
• Preparedness to commit to and honor extended period of employment with Peace Corps expected.
