requires a suitably qualified and experienced Underground Mine
Surveyor who will be accountable for the provision of accurate and
timely surveying requirements on the Mongbwalu Mine site and
exploration leases to a standard that is accurate to DRC Mine
department specifications.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:
- Provide accurate and timely survey control and layout as required for safe and productive for the Underground Mining Operations.
- Establishment, maintenance and monitoring of primary and secondary underground survey control within the Mining Lease, this includes levelling for this control with an automatic level as well as documentation of the control and closure accuracies and adjustments, extension of the control and placement of, temporary controls to ensure timely surveys.
- Daily survey pickup for presentation of a daily dig plan for use by Operations personnel in a timely manner.
- Ensure that Underground Surveys are carried out on a regular basis to enable accurate mining excavation and total volumes to be calculated at the end of each month for payment purpose to the Mining contractor and for use in grade control reconciliation and Mill throughput figure comparison. In addition blasted areas to be surveyed for blasted stocks and contractor payment.
- Ensure that Stockpile surveys are carried out on a regular basis to enable accurate stockpile volumes, and reconciliation of stock pile and Ore stocks to be done every month end.
- Ensure that Surveys are carried out to provide information to Mining Engineers for evaluation of excavation and placement versus Design parameters.
- Set out and Survey of all Grade control drill holes as required.
- Maintenance of all survey equipment and digital and hardcopy as built plans of the underground installations.
- Preparation of the weekly and monthly reports on developments advance, production, and ore and waste stockpiles.
- Establishing and implementing survey standards and procedures for the mining engineering department as they relate to underground development, open stopping mining methods, and surface construction.
- Preparation of statutory mine plans and reporting conditions or actions which are in accordance with the mining safety and Inspection Act or regulations and AngloGold Ashanti regulations and standards.
- Daily interaction with Operations, Engineering and Geological sections, the Mining Department and other Departments on an as required basis.
- Actively participate in Training of Junior staff in the methods, techniques and procedures of Surveying and all affiliated Mining Requirements.
- Degree or Diploma in Geodetic Engineering or Diploma in Mine Surveying or Diploma Land Surveying or any recognised Survey tertiary qualification from a recognised institution.
- A minimum 5 years post qualification
- Mining industry experience of which at least 2+ years were in an Underground mine Survey (preferably Gold).
- Experience with monitoring systems
- Experience with modern survey instruments such as total stations, data recorders and associated software.
- Knowledge and good level of competency in the use of ‘Survey software packages i.e. Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, etc. or similar mining software.
- Good knowledge of spread sheet, word processing and presentation packages of survey information and data.
- Good written and oral communication skills in English/ French.
- Able to show initiative and personnel management skills.
