Senior Supervisor - Mine Production Barrick Gold Corporation - Solwezi, ZM

Lumwana Mining Company located in Zambia is wholly owned by Barrick
Gold Corporation and operates one of the largest new copper mines
to be developed globally over the last decade.

The mine is seeking a proactive and self-motivated Senior
Supervisor – Mine Production to be responsible for the operation of
all personnel, mining fleet, equipment or contractors and carrying
out production in an efficient, safe and cost effective manner
according to production budget.

he appointee will report to the Operations Coordinator and will be
responsible for the following duties and activities:

• Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all
  personnel and the owner mining fleet or any other equipment or
  contractors working within the mining area during his/her
  shift.
• Ensure production and cost targets are achieved in conjunction
  with the daily, weekly and monthly mining plans that correspond
  with the yearly production budget.
• Accountable for ensuring each subordinate is adequately
  supported with equipment, personnel resources,  appropriate
  engineering controls and information to enable his/her immediate
  work area to be managed appropriately in accordance with the
  governing statutory requirements.
• Maintain a pro-active approach to all aspects of operational
  safety and encourage teamwork within the section in line with the
  ECV company values.
• Maintain and promote the use of written documentation on safe
  work procedures (JSA’s, SOP’s) in all aspects of the mining
  operation.
• Ensure that appropriate quality controls (dilution, ore loss,
  geotechnical, mill feed, operating levels, pit and dump design) are
  in place and adhered to at all times.

Skills & Abilities

 The successful applicant must have the following
qualifications/skills:

• Diploma or similar in Mining Engineering or Civil
  Engineering
• A minimum 10 years relevant experience in the mining industry
  in the capacity of Senior Supervisor/ Trainer - in an open cut
  mining environment.
• Experience in large multi open pit operations utilising large
  scale mining equipment i.e. Electric/Diesel (AC) driven 240t dump
  trucks, 500t excavators and face shovels is essential.
• Able to demonstrate initiative and co-ordination skills - be
  able to take full responsibility for safety, production, training
  and quality of the mining operation
• Ability to interpret mine plans and effectively communicates
  targets and goals to all immediate subordinates.
• Prior use of and understanding of Modular Mining (Dispatch)
  software is desired.
• Demonstrated high level of communication with the Mining
  Operations personnel and other LMC Departments & commitment to
  improve current protocols.
