Providing analytical expertise to the Regulatory and Tax Affairs team
- Identifying repeating topics and trends in tax affairs through research & internal consultation that provide Tax insight for Senior internal stakeholders;
- Summarising Tax news and research into briefing notes that will be shared with Group functions, regional Hub teams & local businesses to increase awareness of issues, enhancing understanding & promoting further information sharing;
- Composing thematic reasoning to propose or refute tax policy responses to alcohol-related concerns, bringing both commercial and socio-economic considerations into the mix. This will provide the reasoning and evidence base that can be utilised by internal Senior level stakeholders to influence government decision makers;
- Exploration of what influence tax policies have on the size and shape of the illicit alcohol market by canvassing Group experience and undertaking research. The outcome of this will be used by the Group to promote effective & targeted measures aimed at targeting illicit alcohol and adding value to the Group, whilst avoiding disproportionate & ineffective government proposals;
- Preparing visually appealing presentations of information related to tax affairs for use by internal stakeholders in their engagement efforts and presenting these if required.
- Develop new content for standardised reporting and/or publishing to intranet that provides Business Units & Group functions with Tax information that can be utilised in decision making.
Providing strategic assistance to SABMiller markets in developing long term plans
- Cataloguing cross-country information on product tax regulations through consultation with local & regional Tax Managers, creating a central database of relevant tax laws for use by the business to identify best practice & promote understanding
- Using existing reporting infrastructure to administer data collection from SABMiller local and regional operations on forecast risks and opportunities for use in internal reporting.
- Supporting assessment of tax regulatory risks and opportunities by country, regions and globally, including quantification and likelihood. This will be used by Senior Management to agree Product Tax priorities and formulate strategy & support around Tax engagement activity.
- Assisting the Industry Affairs & Tax Teams to identify achievable 10-year desired tax state, with quantification of opportunity and government impact (across all product taxes and taking account of Licence to Trade and Sustainable Development objectives).
- Support for development of 3-year, 5-year and 10-year strategy to achieve desired state, helping with identification of key stakeholders, articulation of key messages, identification of partnering opportunities and development of supporting fact base

General experience: It is likely that the successful candidate will have experience of working on indirect taxes within the Big 4 accountancy firms and have experience of working with License to Trade issues in a large organisation, such as an alcohol producer, tobacco company, oil & gas business, or a company within the extractive industry.
