Context/Scope:
EABL operates within a multi cultural, multinational, multi currency environment. EABL comprises four business units: KBL, EAML, CGI and UBL. KBL is further categorized into Demand and Supply. The Supply business is involved in production of beer and spirits. The Demand business is involved in marketing and pushing the product to consumers.
The Marketing Manager – Spirits manages a brand in an environment characterized by an increasingly demanding and discerning consumer and manages the youngest brand in the company’s portfolio, which makes it a recruiting brand, and therefore the brand of the future.
The job holder is expected to work closely with:
• The Marketing Director to keep him/her updated on progress towards objectives and tasks agreed with him/her, and to seek support on initiatives;
• Market Research & Development Manager to agree Research briefs, and for the latter to keep updating the SPIRITS Brand team about consumer and retail trends for the brand;
• Management Accountant to consult on costing of current products and future NPD projects, including pricing;
• Group Company Secretary for Trade Marks protection and other legal issues as pertains to the spirits brands;
• Brewing Manager to consult on current intrinsic product issues, and on other issues to do with Product improvement or development;
• Group General Manager, Supplies and Services for Marketing sourcing (promotion materials, outdoor, product packaging etc);
• Customer Services Director, Customer Service Operations Manager and National Promotions Manager for liaising on promotions and other on-the-ground sales activities to do with the brand;

The job seeks to contribute +7% of EABL profit
The job is directly in charge of 25% of the discretionary Marketing budget.
UDV has 44% volume share of spirits. EABL (K) demand is the No.1 FMCG Company in Kenya and East Africa and also markets UDV brands.
The company invests heavily in A&P, Media buying, sponsorships and events to build brand equity and increase operating economic profit.
Trade is evolving and being more sophisticated especially at retail level.
Leadership Responsibilities:
• There are three direct reports reporting into this position. The job holder is required to conduct performance reviews, regular up-dates, brand plans, ad campaigns, etc.
• The job holder requires the Marketing Director's approval for any significant variances to strategy and budgets, and for portfolio rationalization.
Purpose of Role:
To manage and control the consistent profitable growth of the entire spirits portfolio assisted by two brand managers. Aims at guiding the brands’ long term strategy and ensuring yearly plans and objectives are developed, implemented and achieved.
TOP 3-5 Accountabilities
• Work pro-actively and effectively in partnership with the Sales functions.
• Leads the development of the spirits brands Game Plans
• Ensures brand positioning is clear, consistent & distinctive
• Champions the concept of Brand Equity in his/her brands
• Updates best practice based on Diageo/DWBB world class benchmarks
• Leads/champions the principles of consumer insights in his/her department.
• Encourages a creative approach to developing and enhancing consumer value.
Qualifications and Experience Required:

• A Bachelor of Commerce or related degree or MBA.
• CIM Diploma
Experience
• Minimum of 7 years marketing experience in a FMCG environment, with 2 years people management experience.
• Experience in marketing management, development and execution of advertising strategies and price and margin management are required.
