FIND is an international non-profit organization based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organization is dedicated to activities that result in: 1) new diagnostic tools; 2) expanded access to these tools; and 3) strengthened diagnostic testing capacity for poverty-related diseases in low- and middle-income countries.
Your Mission: As our Head of Hepatitis and HIV Programme, you will be based in Geneva, Switzerland and lead a diverse team to remove diagnostic barriers that prevent countries from scaling up hepatitis care and supporting global HIV prevention, care, and treatment goals. The projects in your portfolio span the range from early R&D concepts to introduction and scale up of commercial diagnostic solutions in low- and middle-income countries and emerging markets. We are seeking a visionary leader with a deep understanding of diseases and health systems and a passion for shaping hepatitis and HIV control through innovative diagnostic tools and interventions.
Your Responsibilities: Your initial focus will be to establish large-scale Hepatitis C diagnostic demonstration projects in 8 high-burden countries, in partnership with the respective Ministries of Health and several international and local partner organizations. In addition, you will extend the reach of the Hepatitis and HIV Programme to address unmet diagnostic needs.
Your responsibilities include:
- Shape FIND’s multi-country hepatitis C project to meet ambitious project goals, leveraging your partner network, influence, and expert knowledge
- Lead project and resource planning, budgeting, and risk management
- Refine and implement FIND’s Hepatitis C and HIV Programme vision, strategy, and targets
- Lead the Programme team and oversee the project portfolio at Geneva HQ and in countries
- With CEO, co-lead resource mobilization for your Programme
- Establish and maintain close relationships with WHO, other leading global health agencies, country programmes, and industry involved in diagnostics implementation and hepatitis C and HIV control
- Oversee FIND’s advocacy and communication efforts for the Programme, and ensure organizational visibility through meetings, conference representation, and publications
- As a member of the senior management team, help define strategic direction and priorities for the organization
The position requires significant travel of approximately 25-35% to Asia, Africa, and the United States (and may be as high as 40-50% during the first six months), and reports to the Chief Medical Officer.
Education, knowledge, and skill requirements:
- Holder of a relevant degree, such as an MD or PhD, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in Hepatitis/HIV and global health
- Direct hands-on experience in low- and middle-income countries, with demonstrable understanding of health systems and public health in these settings
- Excellent network amongst relevant organizations (international public health agencies, diagnostics industry, and/or donors)
- Sound knowledge in diagnostic development/delivery strongly preferred
- Strong organizational skills with ability to prioritize projects, and experience in managing teams of 5-10 people with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong presentation skills
- Ability to work independently and flexibly in a resource-limited environment and a relatively small organization
- Fluent English, verbal and written; other languages are a strong advantage
- Flexibility to travel and produce high quality, accurate outputs under pressure and to deadlines
