UNDERGROUND MINING FIRST LINE LEADER
Acacia Mining seeks to employ an Underground Mining First Line Leader based at North Mara Mine in Tanzania. This role reports to the Underground Mining Section Leader and the role holder will be accountable to review and optimize current mining operating and short term planning systems. The incumbent will develop and drive production engineering controls that deliver robust, repeatable and reportable outputs and will participate and review all planning (long/medium) to ensure it is fit for purpose. In addition, the incumbent will contribute to the optimisation project of Capital infrastructure to deliver long term sustainable production and assist with managing commercial aspects of mining contracts.
This is a fixed term contract role, with the work roster being six weeks on and three weeks off.
CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Enhance and drive safety systems to ensure the developed culture can safely and productively meet mine production targets.
• Develop and maintain Ventilation, Cement Aggregate Fill (CAF), Drill & Blast (D&B), and Long-Hole Open Stoping (LHOS) engineering systems.
• Meet targets in terms of Developed stocks, Drilled Stocks and Broken Stocks.
• Ensure that all Company Standards, Policies and Procedures are adhered to, as well as relevant legislation.
• Provide rotation coverage for the Underground Section Leader.
• Implement the standards for Underground Mining Department and be accountable for the standards being met for all outputs.
• Manage and assist the team undertaking the underground optimisation projects, such as:
Infrastructure and services review, optimization and change planning (pumping/electrical etc.)
Mining Contract review
Mining Security review
Mining Safety Review
Production and development systems optimisation
Ore and waste handling systems review
Equipment selection review and optimisation
CAF systems setup and review
Long term mine setup functionality (people and systems)
• Coordinating with other technical areas to ensure longer term plans are aligned with the developed shorter term operational requirements.
• Be involved in the project budget preparation activities within the Underground Operational Team and be accountable for the timely delivery of the outputs required.
• Accountable for the efficient and effective application/ implementation of project plans to ensure the timely completion of project works.
• Assist with the management of contractors.
• Prepare regular production / projects reports and Stope file notes for the Underground Operation.
• Ensure that objectives are met by team members, conduct team member reviews and ensure the existence of development plans for team members.
• Develop a team that has appropriate knowledge and skill to operate autonomously and have a clear succession plan.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
Qualification Requirements:
• Degree in Mining Engineering
Experience Requirements:
• 5 -10 years’ experience in Mining, including at least 2 years in Underground Mining (large scale mechanized), and 5 years in an appropriate production engineering role
• Brownfield optimization exposure
• High speed development mining exposure
• Large scale LHOS with fill exposure
