Mongbwalu Project Chief Geologist Underground

Our Mongbwalu Project based in the Democratic Republic of Congo requires a suitably qualified and experienced Underground Chief Geologist who will be accountable to lead and supervise the mine’s underground’s geological team as well as external contractors. 

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The role holder has the following accountabilities and authorities:

• Execution and review of drilling plans to obtain the best possible results
• Analysis and interpretation of underground geological mapping, modelling and sampling
• Management of drilling projects to maximize the identification of mineral resources for the mine
• Ensure quality assurance and quality control are implemented throughout the exploration process (including data validation)
• Management of budgets and costs to obtain best results with less spending
• Build capacity of the team members to improve efficiency and results
• Ensure team members are working in safe conditions at all time to minimize risks
• Prepare and submit reports on incident statistics, breaches and inspections or any other safety matters to the management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• BSc (Honours) degree or equivalent in Geology.
• At least 8 years industrial experience of which at least 2 years should be in an underground mine (preferably gold)
• Being able to monitor systems, use survey instruments / software such as Total stations, Data recorder, Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine and/or any similar mining software.
• Good written and oral communications skills in both French and English
• Have team management experience as well as personal leadership qualities
• Be pro-active in all aspects of operational safety

Production Manager

 

REMUNERATION:

Salary will be in accordance with the AngloGold Ashanti Schedule of Salaries.
